There's Always Something New at the Museums!

Join us at the Museums for full-immersion, hands-on fun for the whole family throughout year-in person and virtually. Sign up for a class at the Museum School, stop in for our weekend and school vacation family programs, and explore our permanent collections and special exhibits.

All exhibits and activities are FREE with museum admission unless noted.

Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration

It’s fun to have fun and we’ll show you how especially each year at our Dr. Seuss birthday celebration! In early March the Springfield Museums pull out all the stops to present an over the top, hats off to reading celebration of Springfield-native Theodor Seuss Geisel, the author who revolutionized learning to read by making it FUN! Each year has a slightly new theme-this activity-packed party is a must for Seuss Fans everywhere.

Powers has a whole lot of Dr. Seuss Birthday edutainment (education + entertainment) in store for visitors. “When we celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday, we celebrate the joy his work brought into learning to read for generations! And we have so many wonderful ways to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s Birthday this year”

Join us for our annual celebration of Springfield-native Theodor Geisel! Each year in early March, the Springfield Museums are the setting for a one-of-a-kind birthday celebration.


In late November through the New Year, the Springfield Museums host a celebration to promote growing your heart three sizes with family-engagement activities at the Amazing World of Dr. Seuss and throughout the other Museums. Our Grinchmas celebration includes our annual Gingerbread exhibit and contest-which proves to us each year how remarkably creative people can be!

Ongoing Activities

The Museums have maker and innovation spaces where people of all ages can create: The Cat’s Corner, The Art Discovery Center, and Spark!Lab. These spaces feature individualized kits and social distanced activities. All materials and surfaces will be sanitized between use.
