Court Square Theater was the largest and grandest theater in Springfield and in the age before movies and television, it was the place where everyone went for entertainment. Built in 1892, the theater hosted most of the leading actors and musicians of the day and Ted’s family would have ventured from their home in Forest Park to see plays, vaudeville, and musical performances.
